(Sea kayak leader / SUP paddler)
I started paddling at the age of 10, mainly surf shoes and then wave skis. I progressed into racing K1 and K2s in my teens, maintaining a keen interest in the sea with some white water paddling thrown in to hone my skills. After school, I studied a degree in Business and Leisure Management in Swansea whilst working at an Outdoor Education Centre in my spare time. After graduation with a Degree and a Masters, I thought it a good idea to get a ‘proper job’….and entered into a career in Global sales and marketing…spanning the next 24 years. I balanced my working life with plenty of outdoor adventures in including month long expeditions to far flung places like Africa, South America and the Himalayas, I ran ultras and completed in long distance swim and cycle events. Covid taught me many things, one being that life is short and the other that family are very precious! Taking a big step into the unknown, I retrained as a Paddlesport Leader, Sea Kayak Leader and Sea Kayak Coach….fully immersing myself back into the world of paddlesports…you could say a full circle! My ‘office’ is now sitting in a kayak or standing on a SUP, paddling with like-minded folks who want to enjoy the outdoors, have a good chat, drink tea, eat cake and have a lot of fun! I have not looked back yet…definitely one of my better decisions!
